Six Strings Heroes

Guitarristas que eu ouço, e que me inspiram, tá bom? =)

Guitar players who are musical influence for me, and that inspire me, okay? =)

I will not put everything I hear here because the list would be endless! =O

And There's no alternative: this is a page that will always be modified by me. Because this is natural, after all musicians are like lawyers and doctors: are always studying, and study leads to evolution ...

I'm eclectic. I'm a guitar player in a heavy metal band, and I love heavy metal. But I hear a lot of different music. I love nasheed, really like Habib Koité and African musicians from Mali, I like progressive rock, I like MPB, especially music that comes from Minas Gerais, I like strange music, electronic, industrial, I like many things that are really different, okay? =)

But here I pay a small tribute to the guitar players that I like and that are my biggest influences on guitar, okay? =)

01. As minha maiores influências...
01. My biggest influences...

Randy Rhoads, essential for me ... Randy Rhoads is, always was, and always will be the musician that most deeply touches my soul and my heart with his music.

All this time I play guitar, the more I study and develop me on guitar, even more I turn to Randy, and I always discover new things in art, music, and style him play.

Randy Rhoads has always been, and always will be my greatest inspiration ...

You can read more about him here:

Bem, e depois do Randy...
Well, after Randy...

Jimi Hendrix... =)

Jimi Hendrix... This coincided with some elements that I use to play the guitar, as the power mode of interpretation, the use of wha-wha as a component of musical expression, and something in terms of psychedelic effects and phrases looses in the air. It captivated me and just making me crystallize one side of my way of expressing myself on guitar that already existed but had not yet a name. =)

Eu gosto do trabalho dele no UFO.

Michael Schenker is another guitar player who I hear a lot, okay? I like his work on UFO. Well, I don't hear many old bands, and I think I should hear more, but there are some bands that I really like, and UFO is one of them =)

Yngwie Malmsteen...

Yngwie Malmsteen... Yngwie appeared as a musical influence for me recently, okay? And the blame for this influence on my style of playing is a sister in Islam who is my friend, and she is his fan, and two dear friends who talk so much about him, And they ended up making me hear the music of Yngwie with more attention.  And the fact is that he has become a great and powerful influence, and this ended up radically changing my style of playing guitar ... =)

In another direction, someone very special to me: Paco de Lucia! I think Paco de Lucia is connected to the vigorous style of expression on the guitar, I also think that this is directly connected with my own story cause Paco de Lucia was a musician too heard in my family's house for a long time. The fact is that I love flamenco and I love harmonic minor scales and "arabesque" and "gypsy" sonorities. It is something that is always present in me.

Aí chegamos no Ritchie Blackmore... =O

Then we arrived at Ritchie Blackmore ... And Ritchie Blackmore is a case apart for me lol ... Often I feel sick of him  =D  and I think he's a big boring, so I don't want to hear him play ... but time passes and then I'm hearing him again, okay? =P I don't know how to define Blackmore, I think, for me, musically he is a lemon as complicated as people say he is personally, but okay, here he is, quoted between my main influences, but I don't know, I suspect that I currently went back to listen to Rainbow cause I'm listening to Yngwie... =O

02. Outros guitarristas que eu amo...
02. Other guitar players that I love...

I love Zakk Wylde and his band, Black Label Society, is one of my favorites, okay? =)

Brad Gillis

Brad Gillis is a curious case for me, cause I definitely don't like his band, Night Ranger. I've forced myself to listen several times and like the Rolling Stones and other old bands, I came to the conclusion that, although I have respect for the work of these bands, they aren't part of my musical taste, okay?

Night Ranger did much more successful in the U.S. than in Brazil. Night Ranger in the U.S. is considered a classic band.

But I just love the work of Brad Gillis on Speak of The Devil live album Ozzy Osbourne. Containing only Black Sabbath songs, this album was recorded during the Diary of a Madman tour after the tragic and unexpected death of Randy Rhoads.

The performance of Brad Gillis and even the guitar tone on that album pleases me until today. And it was not easy to make this work, according to what he has said in several interviews. The band was destroyed, and all were very sad due to the death of Randy, and he handled the pressure until the end of the tour, which continued due to contractual obligations.

A curiosity in the photo above, taken on tour with Ozzy: Brad Gillis is wearing a blue leather vest that belonged to Randy, and was given to him by Ozzy.

Jake E Lee

Ah sim sim, eu gosto do Jake E Lee, tá bom? =)

Yes, I like Jake E Lee, ok? =)

Carlos Cavazo was the guitarist of Quiet Riot after Randy, when the band signed to a major label and was released worldwide. And I like him.

I think I have a strong connection to California, and I'm aware that this happens because of Randy, but the fact is that many guitarists that I love come from California, and Carlos Cavazo is more of them.

I've seen the Quiet Riot Live in Brazil on two occasions, and I enjoyed seeing Carlos Cavazo playing in these shows.

And continuing my strong connection to California, Eddie Van Halen is another guitar player that I love, but I didn't like him before. There's something very interesting in Eddie Van Halen, something kind of "jazz" in terms of harmony, at least for me. It's a totally different way of Randy Rhoads, cause Randy explored the path of classical music.

Dimebag Darrell, outra grandiosa influência para mim =). Amo Pantera, tá bom?

Dimebag Darrell, another great influence to me =). I love Pantera, okay?

Now, a couple of guitar players: KK Downing and Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest, two big influences for me too =)

Marty Friedman, another big influence for me, ok? =)

Uli Jon Roth is a German guitarist who, like Michael Schenker, was one of the guitarists of SCORPIONS, and then departed for a solo career stunning and unique, where he expanded the musical horizons in ways that were never before traveled, and I like much of his work as well.

Guthrie Govan, a guitarist who has delighted me very recently. =) I didn't know his music, but I heard "Erotic Cakes" and I was in love with his music. I always like to learn new things, although he no longer is something new to many people.

Jeff Beck.

Jeff Beck. This is a guitarist who I hear a long time since I heard "Jeff Beck Truth", and I was a child when I heard this album. And I don't know why I waited so long to put him here.

And there other guitarists about which I will speak later, when I have more time to update this page, as I wrote in the beginning of it, will always be modified, because the important thing is always to study and learn new things, okay? =)

Eu tenho o álbum "The Complete Recordings" e eu sou feliz por isto. =)

I came here today (12.28.2015) to talk about two guitarists who can't stay out of this page in any way. I think this page will end up becoming a compendium of virtuoso guitarists and musics that marked the history of music, okay? Of course, the criterion here is very personal cause these are the players who I love. But I also feel good about talking about musicians who deserve a lot of respect for his fine art.

Robert Johnson. Leaving the mix most eclectic, and people more perplexed with me, I must explain that I love blues. But inside the blues, what I love most is the "Mississippi Delta Blues". I've also heard the term "Folk Blues" but, anyway, explaining, I'm in love with the blues that emerged around the delta of the Mississippi River around the 20s and 30s of the twentieth century and, thanks to the English musicians of the 60s, it became known throughout the world and gave rise to the current popularity of Blues.

I like many musicians related to "Mississippi Delta Blues" as Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, BB King, Son House, Bukka White, and I intend to speak of them when I have time, but I need to put here with all honor Robert Johnson.

Time took away almost everything that was related to Robert Johnson. Time left for us only two pictures of him, and more either that arises but not confirmed as authentic. We don't even know for sure the correct date of his birth, and not even know exactly where he is buried (there are three probable tombs). Robert Johnson lived in a desolate environment, and probably never imagined that he would be so famous and grand as it is today. And this happened because his music yes, survived. I have the "The Complete Recordings" album and I'm happy for that. =)

Neste sentido, preciso colocar aqui Allan Holdsworth.

Eu tenho muitos albuns do Allan Holdsworth como "Metal Fatigue", "Atavachron", "Sixteen Men of Tain" e outros, e eu amo ele.

And leaving the mixture of styles more interesting, I must say that I also love jazz and fusion. But Hugh Laurie, who besides being widely known for having interpreted Dr. Gregory House in the TV series "House MD", is an excellent musician who I really like, once said: "There are only two styles of music: good music and bad music. the rest is convention for the music business." - and I agree with him.

In this sense, takes place here Allan Holdsworth.

I have many albums of Allan Holdsworth as "Metal Fatigue", "Atavachron," "Sixteen Men of Tain" and others, and I love him. This is another guitar player that I hear for a long time, okay? =)

And when I have more time, I'll be back here to talk about more guitarists that I love. =)
